Ikea Wants to Pay You For Your Old Furniture

Category: DIY projects

Anyone who has redecorated knows how liberating it is to just throw out old furniture and replace it with fresh, new items, but Ikea's new incentive program is going to make you reconsider leaving your old couch on the street. From April 22 through May 21, our favorite Swedish retailer is asking for your old furniture in exchange for $20 off a purchase of $150 or more. In honor of Earth Day and Ikea's Living Your Way celebrations, the company has teamed up with Goodwill, which will take the donations and help with the heavy lifting in the parking lot. Goodwill will also be providing a tax deduction form.

The program will accept most living room, dining room, office, and bedroom furniture, but will not accept mattresses, bedding, and baby and children's furniture. The furniture does not have to be from Ikea to qualify for donation, but it does have to be in good condition. Check your store page to see if your local Ikea store is participating in the Furniture Take Back program, and then get excited to redesign your home . . . it's for a good cause!
