While cleaning out my party supply closet I stumbled across a few bright colored decorations that I’ve been slightly nervous to use and decided it was time to bite the bullet and create a display that’s out of my comfort zone. Obviously I enjoy neutrals and soft color tones so going bold and bright can be intimidating for me; my friend Sharon can rock a bright colored display like no one else so I attempted to take note of her awesome style and give it a shot…. baby steps. The rest of my inspiration came from my best friends engagement (insert loud cheers) and Rihanna. My bestie has a bold personality and will have an engagement party that will blow us all away, I’m sure of it! I count this as a practice session before her maid of honor and I get to work on something epic.
Drinks and sweets, do you need anything else in life? The correct answer is nope. Ring pops and doughnuts first came to mind when celebrating an engagement that shines bright like a diamond and I also couldn’t pass on Oreo brownies, duh. For the drink I simply spiked some of my favorite Crystal Light. My go-to party drink.
For decor I had fun pulling in a few colorful items I had on hand such as my green cake stand, ribbon and polka dot wrapping paper. I normally take my time with floral arrangements to make sure the look is “even”, this go round I dropped a few in a vase and decided I liked the “uneven” basic look and ran with it. The fabric (on sale at Hobby Lobby, holla!) is what made this display. It was a gloomy and rainy day outside, inside not so much.
I’m VERY happy to announce my new found love for stripes and more specifically black and white stripes, mind blown. Not sure how bold I will go in the future but I’m taking steps at overcoming my intimidation with bright colors… this vintage lovin’ gal can’t stay away from soft teal and brown tones but there’s a place in my love for party displays that will be working at it. Now it’s time to get to work on the engagement party of the year and yes, it will shine bright like a diamond.
