Orlando Food Trucks

We finally got to have our first food truck experience! When I heard an announcement that there was going to be a collection of food trucks at a local mall we planned dinner around it. My brother in law and his other half joined my husband and I for a night of taste testing. It was a great idea to go as a group of 4, we were able to split so many things and taste test without getting too full or spending too much. Music playing, 10+ food trucks, and great company… a good night was had by all!

I’ve always wanted to try an Elvis Sandwich…. so I did! 2 waffles with bananas, peanut butter, and bacon inside. It was everything I hoped for.

My cake wrecks

I’m no baker and I have much love for those who posses the baking & cake decorating gene! A while back I attempted my hand (with help from a friend) at cake decorating. This was my first experience with fondant and dying it…. a lot of work on your hands! The first cake ended up with a funny shape toward the bottom and obviously I can’t write on cakes… the shimmer on the side was suppose to be the ‘eclipse’. I gave it another shot with a smaller cake and ended up with very runny icing and added too much water to my fondant to make the black pop. The bottom of the cake didn’t improve either… they say practice makes perfect. Not sure I have the cake decorating gene. I’m no Peeta. *wink wink*

I’ll stick to cupcakes….. Do you have cake wrecks??

I have always LOVED the idea of getting married on LOVE Day. However, since the day of the week it falls on changes every year there’s only select years where this is possible for couples to do so. There’s lots of theme ideas out there & even more ideas for dessert bars & cakes! States Concert

If you haven’t heard of States yet, let me introduce you….

States is one of my new favorite bands. I discovered them via twitter several months back and when I heard Line ‘Em Up (EP) I was hooked! They made an appearance in Orlando a few weeks ago and I was beyond thrilled. I introduced States to my girlfriends and within a week concert tickets were purchased. The live performance- WOW. Such a talented band and I have mad love for Mindy White. Did I get to mention that I met Mindy!?!? Talk about star struck. I got slightly nervous and of course along with that came some awkwardness. She was so humble and spent so much time chatting with us. We also got to meet Mindy’s super sweet parents….I think they were just as excited as we were.

A Special Gift for Your Special Valentine

I love giving and receiving gifts that are handmade and come from the heart. What better holiday to give a gift like this than on Valentine’s Day? Nothing shows those you care about that you love them more than taking time out of your day to make a gift that you know they will love. (Who really needs an iPad, anyway?? Kidding…)

Anyway, I came across this picture on Pinterest recently and immediately thought that it would make a wonderful Valentine’s Day gift for someone special.

I have to believe the reason I was so drawn to this image was because we did something very similar for my husband for Father’s Day last year. (To find out how we did it, click here!)

To do something similar for Valentine’s Day would be very simple, fun for you to do with your kids, and it can be as expensive or inexpensive as you choose to make it! For a more dynamic look, snap your pictures, have your local copy shop blow them up to a larger size, such as 11×14 or even 16×20. You can then frame them, and you have an impressive decoration for your wall that looks great at Valentine’s Day, but also great all year round.

If that seems like a bit much for you, you can do what we did for my husband. We bought a frame that had three openings for photos, and had our photos blown up to fit in the frame. (Ours were 5×7′s.) My kids and I had such a great time doing this together, and even though the pictures aren’t perfectly posed photos of our kids, their behaviors and expressions speak volumes about their personalities…and it makes me smile every time I look at the picture!

So, if you’re looking for a gift for your Valentine, I hope you’ll think about giving this a try!
