Carrie of A Sweet Spot:Home {Blogger Interview}

Carrie is awesome and also often referred to as my “blog bestie”. I have built many relationships via the online world and each lovely lady I connect with makes my blog life that much better. Carrie’s the friend you can text, call, email and send a Facebook message to daily and she’s totally cool with it. Her blog is adorable and represents all of her faves- reading, cooking (she shares awesome recipes), photography and our shared love for entertaining. I’m excited to have you all get to know this gal a little better.

Why did you start blogging?

I started blogging completely by accident.  I wanted to start a business designing candy buffets for weddings and events and knew that I wanted to have an online presence.  Since I didn’t want to pay a ton each month for web hosting, I started my blog…because it was FREE! Who knew that people outside of my local target audience would start reading it and care about what I had to say??

What does your business name stem from?

My business name is a combination of two of my favorite hobbies, golf and baking.  Hitting the golf ball on the sweet spot of the club face is the best thing you can do with your swing, and it will almost always guarantee that the ball will go where you’ve aimed.  And of course, when it comes to baking, the “sweet” part is pretty self-explanatory!

Take us through a typical day.

My typical day is to wake up early and spend a little time with my arch nemesis, the treadmill.  Then, it’s time to get the kids up and take them to school.  Once I get home, I head into my new office and work, work, work until it’s time to pick the kids up from school.  This involves post writing for my site as well as sponsored and guest posts, photographing, editing photos, and lately…most of my time has been devoted to one particular project that I’ll be announcing VERY soon! Once I pick the kids up from school, it’s time to hang out with them while doing a little housework and getting dinner ready.  My day is pretty regimented, but that’s the way I like it!

What’s on your blog playlist?  What songs keep you motivated?

My playlist is probably pretty unexciting to lots of people.  I often work without any music at all, but when I do, I like to choose instrumental and classical music…which is odd, I know.  I like it because it gives me something to listen to, but it easily fades into the background of what I’m doing so that I can concentrate.  BUT, if I feel like singing along to something, I will inevitably set my iPod to shuffle all the songs of my favorite, John Mayer.  I know all the words to his songs so well that singing along is something I can do while I’m concentrating on my work…it’s like second nature to me!

What are a few of your favorite sites?

You mean besides Truly Chic Inspirations??? I’d have to say the sites I visit regularly are sites like Smitten Kitchen, Young House Love, The TomKat Studio, and a ton of random travel sites…this girl dreams about visiting far off places all the time!!

Favorite online blogging moment thus far.

My favorite moment so far had to be when I realized that people were actually starting to read my site! I felt certain that I would go through my entire blogging career with 5 or 10 views a day, but when I saw that number start to jump over time, I was shocked, surprised, and so excited!

Leave us with a blogging tip to inspire others.

Just keep at it.  No matter what anyone says, these things don’t explode overnight.  You have to put in the time and the effort to grow your site…and it will take a lot of time and effort.  But if you continue to put stuff out there that suits you and your personality, and do it as best you can, you will notice a change.  And be prepared, it’s the most exciting thing ever!
