Feather Arrows

I’m not a big traditional Valentine fan as I try to stay away from lots of hearts… it’s just a little too expected, ya know? I don’t decorate and usually just find a way to accessorize during this day of love. This year I’m attempting to get a little more into the Valentine spirit.
Inspired by several Valentine crafts floating around the online world I took a stab at creating unique food toppers for Valentine’s Day. I’ve been wanting to work with feathers for a hot minute and arrows are my current fave, that might be a Hunger Games thing. Anywho, my original plan was to make drink stirrers or a vase filled with feathers and arrows but when I stumbled across these mini feathers a light bulb went off! Soft pink and black are such a romantic combo and polka dots make it that much cooler.

DIY How-To:
Card stock, food safe sticks, small feathers, hot glue and scissors are required.
Cut a small piece of card stock into a rectangle, approximately 3×2. Cut down each side of the card stock at an angle to create the arrow end look. Snip the top off and the bottom off to round off the arrow. Attach your arrow to food safe sticks. I picked up this bag of mini feathers in black and white at Joann’s. Using your mini feathers hot clue them to the back of the food stick behind your card stock arrow. I recommend trimming the feathers to make sure they are shorter than the portion of your food stick that will be touching food.
